چکیده

This paper describes an extension to the constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) approach called MUSE CSP (Multiply SEgmented Constraint Satisfaction Problem). This extension is especially useful for those problems which segment into multiple sets of partially shared variables. Such problems arise naturally in signal processing applications including computer vision, speech processing, and handwriting recognition. For these applications, it is often difficult to segment the data in only one way given the low-level information utilized by the segmentation algorithms. MUSE CSP can be used to efficiently represent several similar instances of the constraint satisfaction problem simultaneously. If multiple instances of a CSP have some common variables which have the same domains and compatible constraints, then they can be combined into a single instance of a MUSE CSP, reducing the work required to enforce node and arc consistency.

Distributed constraint satisfaction with multiply sectioned constraint networks

We propose a new algorithmic framework, multiply sectioned constraint networks (MSCNs), for solving distributed constraint satisfaction problems (DisCSPs) with complex local problems. An MSCN is converted into a linked junction forest (LJF) and is solved by a complete algorithm. Its time complexity is linear on the number and size of local problems (each in charge by an agent) and is exponentia...

Distributed University Timetabling with Multiply Sectioned Constraint Networks

Although timetabling has long been studied through constraint satisfaction based techniques, along with many alternatives, only recently work has been reported where distributed timetabling problems (DisTTPs) was studied as distributed constraint satisfaction problems (DisCSPs). We present an alternative method for solving DisTTPs based on multiply sectioned constraint networks (MSCNs). The pro...

Constraint Satisfaction Problem with Bilevel Constraint: Application to Interpretation of Over-Segmented Images

In classical finite-domain constraint satisfaction problems, the assumption made is that only one value is associated with only one variable. For example, in pattern recognition one variable is associated with only one segmented region. However, in practice, regions are often oversegmented which results in failure of any one to one mapping. This paper proposes a definition of finite-domain cons...

A Hybrid Neural-Genetic Algorithm for FPGA Segmented Channel Routing Problems

A hybrid Neural-Genetic algorithm (NG) is presented for FPGA Segmented Channel Routing Problems (FSCRP). The NG algorithm consists in a Hopfield Neural Network (HNN) which manages the problem constraints, hybrided with a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for improving the solutions obtained. Six hard FSCRP instances have been generated in order to test the performance of the NG algorithm. Key-Words: FPGAs...

HOWTO: Asynchronous PFC-MRDAC -Optimization in Distributed Constraint Problems±Adopt-

Each agent has private problems. Private concerns can often be formulated in a general framework such as constraint satisfaction (where everything is modeled by either variables, values, or constraints). Often agents need to find agreement with others for the allocation of final resources. The constraint satisfaction (CSPs) is only a special case of optimization. Here it is shown how a very gen...
